Oral Comunications and Posters Guidelines

Oral Comunications: The time assigned to oral presentations (20 minutes for keynote presentations and 10 minutes for oral communications) in order to allow for some discussion time.

Posters: Authors presenting posters need to prepare two slides to explain the main information contained on them (3 minutes per poster).  Poster dimensions can not exceed A0 (84.1 cm wide x 118.9 cm long)

The 4th Fatty Pig Science & Utilization International Conference invites researchers and industry professionals to submit their latest findings on autochthonous and rustic pig breeds. These genetically valuable populations, adapted to local environments across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, offer unique potential for sustainable meat production. The call for abstracts welcomes original contributions spanning reproduction, nutrition, meat quality, and the utilization of animal fat as a nutritional energy source. Both oral communications and poster presentations provide platforms for sharing innovative research that elevates the appreciation of traditional, heritage breed products within the global food landscape.

Presenters are encouraged to explore the multifaceted role of fatty pigs in regional heritage and modern food systems. Oral communications allow for concise, focused talks that stimulate discussion, while poster sessions offer a visual and interactive format for sharing detailed findings. The conference aims to challenge outdated perceptions of animal fat by highlighting its nutritional value and culinary importance. Researchers working with breeds such as the Iberian, Mangalica, and other neglected populations will find a receptive audience eager to discuss conservation, production efficiency, and the sensorial qualities that make these products highly prized.

The scientific program is structured to foster meaningful exchange between established experts and emerging voices in the field. Keynote presentations provide deep dives into critical topics, while shorter oral communications and rapid poster overviews ensure a dynamic, fast-paced event. This gathering serves as a vital platform for advancing the science behind fatty pig utilization, from traditional farming practices to modern applications in food technology. Attendees will leave with a broader understanding of how these rustic, well-adapted breeds contribute to biodiversity, local economies, and the rich sensory heritage of cured meats and specialty products worldwide.
